Community Campaigns

Our Successful Liquor Campaign !

On 14 June 2009, SQL and TASC sent out 35,000 flyers to Toowoomba residences objecting to extended trading hours and set up a website—www.sqlaw.com.au.

On 25 June 2009 we lodged objections with the Liquor Licensing Office and held a great public meeting.

In July 2009 Kerry Shine MP personally delivered over 1,500 objections from our flyers to Premier Anna Bligh.

On 4 August 2009 the Bligh Government set up a parliamentary committee to investigate opening hours and alcohol related violence in Queensland.

On 16 September 2009 Anna Bligh announced 12 month moratorium on hotel applications to allow the committee time to investigate.
